Flexibility, security and energy efficiency in smart buildings

A changing working world, the pressure to be increasingly efficient, and digitalisation with all of its advantages and disadvantages: successfully overcoming these challenges for the real estate sector requires a holistic approach to meeting the needs of building users while simultaneously ensuring economic success.

As a specialist with more than 100 years of experience, SAUTER is one of the leading solution providers in the area of building automation and building services. IoT-capable field devices, automation systems and software solutions from engineering to management level, and services from the cloud all form the backbone of future-proof buildings.

  1. Room climate & energy efficiency: Demand-based control of the building technology not only helps avoid unnecessary costs but also increases the well-being of the building’s users. Intelligent building automation solutions react autonomously to changes and thus create the optimal conditions for the intended use. These measures promote flexible use and help reduce the ecological footprint.
  2. Digital services: SAUTER is following the trend toward digital services with a growing range of such services. SAUTER Vision Center, the comprehensive energy and maintenance management system, provides those responsible with a visual overview of the operating data gathered. As a pure SaaS service (Software as a Service) via the SAUTER Cloud, customers now have access to a customer portal for rapid recording of building performance. Thanks to modern cloud technology, the building data can be used and analysed efficiently on-site even without major investments in IT infrastructure or know-how.
  3. IT security: Whenever digitalisation is mentioned, the topic of cybersecurity is also omnipresent. In the first step, the responsibility for the IT security of a building automation system lies with the construction or planning company, and later with the operator. However, there is often a lack of the necessary risk awareness and expertise relating to the integration of building automation into a security strategy. SAUTER uses the current information technology standards for data protection and information security. For example, the new BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC) network layer has been integrated into SAUTER’s modulo 6 series and SAUTER Vision Center.
  4. The smart building: Smart buildings record environmental data and usage parameters and can utilise this database to predict events and respond as required. This comprehensive concept of a digital infrastructure is made possible by the use of IoT technology. With the development of innovative solutions, SAUTER is paving the way and helping to preserve the value of real estate. Demand-based control and regulation of all building functions contribute significantly to the cost-effectiveness of operating the building. At the same time, an energy-saving building conserves resources and reduces its CO2 emissions, making it not only future-proof but also an important part of a modern sustainability strategy.

Visitors to the trade fair can find out more about the key topics via public focus talks taking place every day at the SAUTER stand. In addition, products for HVAC control, room control and sensor technology will be showcased live at all times on a large product wall.

Product highlight: The Smart Sensor

The Smart Sensor viaSens is a new product for integrated room automation. It measures the temperature and humidity, room air quality, movement (presence), brightness and noise level.

Precise measurement of the actual use of the room ensures demand-based control of the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and lighting conditions. Deviations from the comfort zone can be indicated by the LED light ring. The LED light ring can also be used to indicate whether rooms or workspaces are available, or for building services.

The Bluetooth mesh network and MQTT communication for room automation make the Smart Sensor viaSens IoT-capable. The integrated Bluetooth beacon allows smartphone location within the building and, in conjunction with the Mobile Room Control app from SAUTER, enables individual room operation.
