Located in the heart of the Belgian city of Tournai, the Centre Hospitalier de Wallonie Picarde (CHwapi) has been a loyal SAUTER customer for over 15 years. CHwapi’s current Site Unique project is a prime example of modern building automation and sustainable energy management. It impressively demonstrates how hospitals can get ready for the future.
There are good reasons why CHwapi calls its new project Site Unique and refers to it as the ‘hospital of hearts’. CHwapi is setting new benchmarks with the hospital complex under construction. The project aims to consolidate various smaller CHwapi facilities at a central location. One objective is to increase efficiency, reduce operating costs and improve patient care. The other is to create a building complex with the highest levels of energy efficiency, operational reliability, user comfort and future-readiness. This is made possible in part by using cutting-edge technology and intelligent solutions from SAUTER.
SAUTER Vision Center (SVC), already in use to the full satisfaction of the customer at the previous hospital facility, will again be at the heart of building management in the new project. The web-based integration platform enables centralised monitoring, analysis and control of all building functions, including HVAC, energy management, lighting and security. Its comprehensive energy monitoring and management capabilities were particularly important factors in the customer’s decision to use SVC again. The tool allows detailed monitoring and analysis of energy consumption and identifies potential savings. This can help reduce costs and support the hospital in achieving its sustainability goals.
But that’s not all: SVC’s remote access capabilities enable rapid response to unexpected disruptions, thus enhancing overall operational reliability. Its compatibility with various communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus and KNX also ensures seamless and secure data exchange across devices and systems from different manufacturers. With its modular design, SVC can be easily adapted to current and future requirements, making it a truly future-ready solution.
CHwapi has also opted for other SAUTER solutions. Automation stations from the innovative modulo 6 series ensure energy-efficient control of HVAC systems, delivering outstanding performance in minimal space. Like SVC, modulo 6 can be flexibly adapted to specific requirements and supports standard protocols such as BACnet and Modbus for secure data transmission.
With ecos room automation, SAUTER provides a tailored solution for precise control of conditions in individual spaces such as operating theatres and patient rooms. The systems offer impressively user-friendly operation via intuitive touch screens, which are supplied and programmed directly by SAUTER.
The perfectly coordinated suite of building automation solutions will enable CHwapi to make management of the new hospital complex even more efficient, secure, sustainable and comfortable for building users – and ideally prepared for current and future requirements. The Site Unique project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
