SAUTER Introduces the Next Generation of modulo 6 and ecos 5 for Smarter, More Secure Building Automation

Basel, Switzerland – SAUTER has launched a new generation of its proven modulo 6 building automation stations and ecos 5 room automation controllers, delivering significantly higher processing performance, enhanced cybersecurity and greater flexibility for modern, connected buildings.

As buildings become increasingly intelligent and interconnected, automation systems must process larger volumes of data, integrate multiple technologies and maintain the highest levels of reliability and security. The latest modulo 6 and ecos 5 platforms have been developed specifically to meet these evolving requirements.

High Performance for Connected Buildings

At the heart of the new generation is a powerful multi-core CPU architecture that enables fast parallel processing and rapid response times. Combined with expanded memory capacity, the controllers can continuously record and analyse operational data, helping building operators optimise energy performance, improve occupant comfort and reduce operating costs over the long term.

The new modulo 6 automation stations further increase system scalability by supporting decentralised I/O topologies. Together with remote I/O modules and IP-based couplers, they allow flexible distributed system architectures that simplify engineering, facilitate future expansion and reduce maintenance effort.

For room automation, the enhanced ecos 5 controllers provide sufficient computing power to manage all room functions within a single controller. Lighting, shading and HVAC systems can be seamlessly integrated through interfaces such as KNX, DALI, Modbus, M-Bus, EnOcean and SMI, creating efficient and fully connected room automation concepts.

Built for Security and Long-Term Flexibility

The upgraded platforms also strengthen cybersecurity. Designed according to a security-by-design approach, they feature hardened system architecture, modern encryption technologies and secure software update mechanisms. They are prepared to meet current and future cybersecurity requirements, including those introduced by the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

In addition, users benefit from an improved operating experience. The integrated moduWeb Unity web server offers faster performance for commissioning, diagnostics and operation without requiring additional software, making everyday building management even more intuitive.

Importantly, the new generation remains fully compatible with existing SAUTER building and room automation solutions, allowing customers to modernise their installations while protecting previous investments.

With the introduction of the new modulo 6 and ecos 5, SAUTER continues to strengthen its position as a provider of future-ready building automation solutions, combining high performance, open system architecture and robust cybersecurity to support the next generation of smart, sustainable buildings.
