iBeacons – little beacons with a big impact for SAUTER’s Digital Solutions

SAUTER uses iBeacons in conjunction with the Mobile Building Map app for, among other things, location-based positioning and reliable navigation within buildings via smartphone.

iBeacons are small wireless transmitters that send their ID at regular intervals via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). How can this technology add value to building automation? SAUTER presents a first use-case.

When a Bluetooth-capable end device, such as a smartphone with the Mobile app installed, comes within its range, the user can be provided with location-based information. SAUTER uses this technology in conjunction with the Mobile Building Map app for, among other things, location-based positioning and navigation within buildings via smartphone. In this way, various information related to the location can be provided and used (Local Based Services). This information ranges from a welcome in the entrance area to safety and operating instructions, information on products, or support for people with disabilities. There are virtually no limits to the variety of services.
