ecos room controllers

smart all-rounders for room automation

In times of high energy costs, ambitious climate targets and increasing demand for comfort, room automation systems play a crucial role. A key focus is on solutions that can be easily adapted to different requirements. To do exactly that, the modular SAUTER ecos room automation stations deliver maximum flexibility.

Room controllers in today’s room automation systems offer far more than just temperature regulation. They integrate heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and sun shading into an intelligent, unified system that creates maximum comfort for users while sustainably reducing energy consumption. For operators and investors, they are the key to efficient and future-proof building operation. Energy flows become transparent, operating costs are reduced and the long-term value of the property is preserved. With SAUTER ecos room automation stations, this complex challenge is met with simple, smart and cost-effective solutions.

Everything in one

The programmable ecos504/505 room controllers are at the heart of SAUTER’s integrated room automation solutions. They combine all the key functions – from room temperature control and lighting control to sun 0shading according to the position of the sun – all in a single system. Control is delivered with exceptional precision. Presence functions, window contact monitoring, demand-based ventilation, lighting and blind control as well as time-based setpoint scheduling all help optimise energy consumption.

The ecos room controllers provide all the essential functions for typical applications. Sensors and actuators can be connected directly. This significant reduction in interfaces greatly simplifies planning, installation and maintenance. In addition, the compact DIN rail housing with high component density makes the controllers ideally suited for installation in electrical distribution boards. Combined with predefined application libraries, this makes commissioning both straightforward and highly efficient.

Ready for any challenge

The open architecture of the ecos room automation stations ensures long-term investment security – whether for new builds or modernisation projects. Supporting all common communication protocols, they easily meet all requirements for integrated room automation. Standard communication via BACnet/IP or BACnet/SC enables streamlined and efficient integration of all components with both primary system automation and the management level. BACnet/SC ensures encrypted data transmission, delivering maximum cybersecurity and future-readiness. The system also uses proven standards when integrating individual systems. DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) enables intelligent lighting control and plays a key role in achieving optimum lighting conditions. Sun shading is controlled via SMI (Standard Motor Interface), ensuring precise and quiet positioning of the blinds. Using KNX or Modbus as a room-level field bus allows individual preferences for design, user comfort and functional enhancements to be easily implemented. In addition, Modbus and M-Bus enable accurate recording of energy consumption in individual rooms or zones.

Scalable & flexible

The comprehensive and thoughtfully designed range of ecos room controllers enables integrated room automation to grow flexibly with the evolving needs of the building and users. Up to 16 I/O modules, 8 room operating units and 16 smart sensors allow seamless integration of all sensors and actuators for complete room automation. The optional IoT Cloud Connector provides access to cloud services and IoT solutions. With the modular “moving wall” room segment concept, spaces can be divided into different, individually automated zones and flexibly reconfigured at any time during operation without requiring structural modifications. Thanks to BACnet, controller settings can be conveniently made via the building management system.

The operating options are equally versatile. Ranging from wired button design and wireless room operating units with bidirectional EnOcean communication to elegant touch panels, the ecoUnit operating devices give users full control. Temperature, lighting, blinds and ventilation can be adjusted intuitively. In addition, SAUTER Mobile Building Services enables secure, customised room operation via the Mobile Room Control app.

This all-round approach means the ecos room controllers create genuine added value. They combine efficiency, openness and flexibility to deliver lasting benefits for users, operators and investors alike.
