In a recent hotel refurbishment project, the SAUTER Smart Actuator proved to be the key technology for achieving exactly that.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the complete modernisation of a nine-storey hotel with 192 guest rooms, the existing fan coil systems were replaced with a new HVAC solution designed around the SAUTER Smart Actuator. By integrating control intelligence and valve actuation into a single device, the project team was able to streamline installation, accelerate commissioning and create a future-ready room automation solution.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A renovation with ambitious goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Originally constructed in the 1980s, the hotel required a comprehensive refurbishment to meet today&#8217;s expectations for comfort, sustainability and operational efficiency. The existing HVAC installation had become increasingly inefficient, resulting in higher energy consumption and excessive water usage throughout the guest room areas.<\/p>\n<p>The refurbishment therefore pursued several objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Modernise the guest room climate control systems<\/li>\n<li>Improve heating, cooling and ventilation efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Reduce installation effort during renovation<\/li>\n<li>Simplify operation and maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Deliver a better guest experience while lowering operating costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Beyond replacing the fan coil systems, the project also included improvements to the building management system and water infrastructure to support more sustainable building operation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The SAUTER Smart Actuator at the heart of the solution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rather than relying on conventional fan coil control with separate automation components, the project centred on the SAUTER Smart Actuator.<\/p>\n<p>The Smart Actuator combines the automation controller and valve actuator into one compact device. This integrated design reduces the number of individual components required for each fan coil unit while simplifying both installation and commissioning.<\/p>\n<p>Its compact architecture also enables cleaner installations with fewer electrical connections, making it particularly well suited for refurbishment projects where space and installation time are limited.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faster installation through intelligent design<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the greatest advantages of the Smart Actuator became evident before installation even began.<\/p>\n<p>The complete fan coil units\u2014including the Smart Actuator\u2014were pre-assembled and fully tested in the workshop before delivery to site.
