SAUTER EY-modulo5: intelligent room automation with wireless dialogue
Whenever energy efficiency is the order of the day, SAUTER leads the field. The ecoUnit1 room operating unit proves this point yet again. This innovative product is a member of the SAUTER EY-modulo 5 family of automation systems which won the 2009 Building Efficiency Award. Thanks to the new bi-directional wireless communication facility, users can now view the room conditions on the display.
The latest generation of ecoUnit1 room operating units developed by SAUTER combine an attractive visual appearance with state-of-the-art technology; they also feature energy autonomy with easy, low-cost fitting and maintenance, and are simple to operate. Innovative EnOcean wireless technology based on the new STM 300 Dolphin platform enables the sensors to communicate with each other in both directions, so users benefit from a helpful dialogue. For example, as well as sending the set fan speed for a room to a central control facility, a room operating unit can also receive and display room status information from a central point.
Powered by a miniature solar cell
The display of the new ecoUnit1 uses clear symbols to indicate actual values, setpoints, humidity, light intensity, air quality, operating modes, fan speeds and information on heating, cooling and operation; thanks to the bi-directional communication, users can see what is really happening in the room in terms of energy technology. The energy-harvesting principle is the basis for the entire operation of the new product, which is powered by a miniature solar cell. Maintenance is easy because no batteries are needed, and its wireless technology also cuts installation costs.
An economical and flexible cutting-edge product
SAUTER believes that the handling, compatibility and design of its products are just as crucial as the technology that they use, so the ecoUnit1 operating unit fits into most of the third-party frames that are available on the market. This makes it easy to comply with customers' colour preferences, and custom-designed labelling and inscriptions are also possible. Another advantage: the SAUTER room automation solution permits maximum flexibility for refurbishments or retrofits in existing buildings. Wireless operation eliminates the need to break through walls and replaster them, and the remote wireless receiver can be positioned freely to ensure the best possible communication between the transmitter and the receiver. These devices can be affixed by either screws or adhesives, making them ideal for buildings of ultra-modern design with glass partition walls.
