SAUTER – A look behind the scenes

11th June 2010

A look behind the scenes: SAUTER opens its doors to its neighbours, its employees' families and the media

As part of the company's centenary celebrations, SAUTER is opening the doors of its headquarters in Basle for two days to its neighbours, members of its employees' families, the media and others. At a series of 'event stations' throughout the site and inside the various company buildings, visitors will be able to find out more about this traditional – yet innovative – Swiss company.

Today, SAUTER is opening its doors at its headquarters in Basle for two days to offer an insight into the world of a specialist for energy-efficient solutions in building management. Apart from a journey into the past – back to the company's early days in Grindelwald – visitors can cast a glance into the future (What will the environments of the future be like? How will we cope with dwindling energy resources?). This is where SAUTER's core competencies really come to the fore: the visitor will find sound information on controls technology, plastics processing, electronics manufacturing processes and worldwide sales operations.

The two days of proceedings started this morning with an exclusive event for the media. After a tour through the works – including the new building, which meets Switzerland's MINERGIE standard – CEO Bertram Schmitz and COO Ulrich Debrunner will be available to answer the media's questions. Tomorrow, the families of the firm's employees and the residents from the immediate neighbourhood will have an opportunity to take a look behind the scenes.

The headquarters of the solution provider for 'green buildings' unites the administration and production departments with the company's own development and logistics sections on the same premises. The advantages are obvious: the various different sections can interact easily and the 'corridors of power' are short. Bertram Schmitz, SAUTER's CEO, adds: "About 500 of our 2000 employees worldwide are based here in Basle. SAUTER's highly-qualified and committed workforce has very specialist knowledge. Without personnel of this calibre, the company's success would be impossible. We also place great emphasis on developing up-and-coming talent by training around forty apprentices every year. This enables us to safeguard SAUTER's know-how for the future and to benefit from the creative and innovative ideas of young people, who are exactly the individuals that we need to help us to develop the new solutions that make a contribution towards protecting the climate."

As a leading provider of solutions for building automation technology in 'green buildings', SAUTER provides pleasant conditions and a sense of well-being in sustainable environments. As a renowned specialist, SAUTER develops, produces and sells energy-efficient building management systems and offers a range of extensive services to ensure energy-optimised operation. The company ensures a high level of energy efficiency in offices, research and educational establishments, hospitals, industrial premises, laboratories, airports, leisure centres, hotels and many other sectors.
